In Portsmouth, the Children’s Museum of Virginia is celebrating Father’s Day with special activities for the family where dads will help build simple toys and games and the kids can make dad their own personal cards. In Hampton, dad can get his fix of classic cars at the 2nd Annual New Covenant Church Car Show. You can enter your own car or come later and admire other entrants. In Virginia Beach, the nature-loving father can enjoy a ride with his family through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge at False Cape State Park. Also in Virginia Beach, dad can relax as his meal is cooked, ahem, bar-b-qued for him, at the Founder’s Inn and Spa. Founder’s Inn is hosting a Fathers Say ‘no’ to Grill Work at Father’s Day BBQ and Jazz Brunch at Swan Terrace where the idea is for dad to sit back and enjoy some music while his meal is prepared by the gracious staff. The City of Chesapeake is sponsoring Father’s Day Sing-O-Grams. You can show the father figure in your life how special he is in a unique way as a staff member calls and sings him a special song. You must register by June 11th.
Also in Chesapeake is the Family Entertainment Series. Though not specifically dedicated towards Father’s Day, dad can enjoy some time at the Chesapeake City Park with entertainment provided by Harold Wood with his “Circus in a Suitcase.” Pack a lunch and spend the day!
