Mental Health Policies Totally Deranged
Mass murderer Cho Seung Hui was a mental patient, a stalker, and in general one creepy dude so couldn’t his murderous rampage been prevented?
Despite:
- Being reported by the mass murderers family as unstable and possibly suicidal
- A mental evaluation that found him unstable
- A hospitalization to treat his mental problems
- A general fear of him by his classmates due to his strange behavior and bizarre writing which included fantasies of murder.
Nothing was done to help or prevent him from killing the young men and women around him including himself. With all these warning signs he should have been treated for the obvious problems he had but that didn’t happen. This begs the question why wasn’t this prevented? The answer, talk to any health professional and they will tell you that the mental health laws are stacked against them when it comes to preventing tragedy’s like the massacre at Virginia Tech. What are we to do when the people most qualified to warn others of a potential mass murderer are prevented from by the libertarian gun nuts of America ?

There will always be mentally ill and deranged people in the world. We are the only country that puts guns in their hands.
Please take a stand about gun control so no more students are killed. This didn’t have to happen if, the US, had taken a stand against the Gun Lobby already. make the lives of the students count.
Thank you-and God Bless

Was the murdered student whose last name was Ryan and who was an RA ever on the show “Deal or No Deal” on NBC? If he was, I think that this might have set Cho off. Was Ryan an RA in the first building that Cho shot up? Cho might have been looking for him. If Ryan was on “Deal or No Deal”, he won some money. This is why Cho referred to “rich brats”. This is also why Cho sent the package to NBC and no other television channel.

I understand its horrible that someone who is a known mental crazy person can buy a gun. I myself have a situation where my sister in law whom is very unstable, goes to a clinic and is in severe depression, being treated by pshcologists, is perscribed lord only know what. She is an alcoholic and mixes her pills while she is drinking. I not only made this apparent to the clinic where she was going especially when I found out she carried a loaded hand gun, and also threatened me at times but never touched me. The doctors wanted me to confront this woman, yeah right. I followed up at the state police finding out that she can carry a gun if she has a permit, while being treated for mental disorders. Well isn’t that great, and the fact she never touched me,I cannot do a DAMN thing.
Well its disgusting that these doctors who perscirbe these drugs want someone like me to cure this cazy women, she has threatened me,I have witnesses, and yet I fear if I were to confront her she would come over and lord only knows what she would do to me and my husband. Even the police officer I spoke with on that day said the lawsto change because there is nothing they can do….Yeah nothing until someone gets killed. To me these doctors need to contact law enforcement and the local courthouse so that certain types of weapons cannot get in the hands of someone unstable…..Believe me I know first hand……Dottie form PA

My heart breaks for everyone touched by this.I do think we need better mental health laws. Taking guns from everyone will NOT prevent this again. It will only keep law abiding citizens from being able to protect their loved ones from the deranged and criminal. Don’t get me wrong I HATE GUNS! But we need them to protect ourselves. They need to make a background check for buying guns to involve cross checking mental health and criminal records. If you have any type of these records you just lost your privilage to carry a gun! That’s how it should be. Bring back a little common sense to the way this country is ran!!

Ode to Virginia Tech
Oh what a day of unspeakable horror,
A somber and tragic day to find,
In a place that could be anywhere,
A face familiar, a mind unknown,
Left the hearts broken of those left behind
Sons, daughters, fathers, husbands,
Sisters, brothers, friends in shock and disbelief,
Try to make sense of a senseless act,
That left minds wasted, taken too soon,
Their potential never to be reached
Our thoughts and prayers reach out to those left behind,
Our eyes weep for the mother’s who clutch their breasts,
Fathers with breaking hearts
Cry out for voices now silent,
Their lives torn apart
A nation comes together, a world watches with profound sadness,
We grieve for your losses, and for you
Our arms reach out with heads bowed,
This community who’s grace and composure
Is of something to be proud
One day a memorial will stand
With words like “We Will Always Love You”,
“We Will Never Forget”,
And we know that one day in heaven
We will see you again

Prayers of healing Virginia Tech. So very sorry , we weep for your dear ones.
I understand about mental illness, with a very beloved brother that I lost to it.
I tell you this because he really never knew he was not well. He never harmed anyone,
actually he was so scared of others that he hid from the world. His medicine gave him
such terrible side effects that ended his life with a heart-attack. I had to make up things for
his doctor to commit him so they could ajust his medication or to stablize so he could function.
I had such guilt, but I now am so glad that I had the strength and the ability to get passed
this useless system so that he would not harm himself or anyone. You may think that I am
overly sympathic to your loved ones murder, however that is not the case, I literally hold my
breathe when I hear of these trajedies because I know all too well how this occured and
there will never be a solution, until, what is looked at as farce, when someone feels
threaten reports it, family strengths gathers around mental illness, medications are
improved, sadly so very sadly this will happen again.
